Throughout the week preceeding the 4th of July, about 700 million pounds of poultry and 190 million pounds of red meat/pork are purchased. On July Fourth itself, 150 million hotdogs are ingested. Are you stocked up and all set? To aid with your 4th of July festivity this year, we would like to offer you with some healthier ideas to always keep your party healthy, yet momentous.

Include Vegetables with Your Meat Preparations

Dice various Zucchini, Bell Peppers, Squash, Onions, Tomatoes or some other vegetable that you want to use and put the slices on the grill for a quick bonus to the barbequed meat. Take smaller sized slices of the vegetables and create shish kabobs with meat and vegetables, in this way each person receives a healthy portion.

Go for Meat that is Low in Fat

A BBQ is never complete without hotdogs, right? Well … Hotdogs contain a great deal of salt and fat inside the meat. There are healthy options that are much lower in fat, yet continue to taste like the famous and liked hotdog taste. Throw some more poultry on the barbecue and remove some of those large burgers. Select a lower in fat ground up meat. They sell 85/15 and 95/5 ground meat that can be exceptionally healthier compared with the full fat meat. Incorporating some spices and getting creative may replace the lack of grease replaced with a spirit of satisfaction for your taste buds. If you are not looking to reduce the fat in the hamburgers, think about making smaller sized hamburgers or “sliders” for a portion-controlled meal.

Skip the Higher Fat Desserts and Go for the Healthy Treats

Rather than a little something that will make your already full belly, a bit more full, consider having a little something that is light and cheery but filling.

Watermelon – A Very Healthy Dessert or Treat

Take watermelon slices and a star cookie cutter to make star shaped watermelon pieces. These can then be placed on the leftover kabob sticks and stuck into piece of a watermelon to hold up the stars. Watermelon is very healthy and beneficial to anyone who has been outside in the sunlight all day. This is due to the fact that Watermelon is very high in water content and serves to help to hydrate the body. Watermelon also contains a high level of all-natural lycopene, which is suggested in early research to help possibly help reduce incidence of cancer and heart diseases.

Stay Hydrated and Don’t Forget Sunscreen !!

Being out in the sun, occasionally, we tend to forget how long we have been outdoors when we are enjoying ourselves. Remember to remain safe by drinking a great deal of water to ensure that you do not dehydrate your body. We also recommended sunscreen so you will not need aloe to the rescue when the day of celebration ends.

Everyone Have a Safer and Enjoyable 4th of July Celebration!
